The Past, Present and Future...

... come together in every Campbell Brothers three and five fin Bonzer, creating a dimension of timeless performanceand enjoyment. The past is expressed through 38 years of shaping experience, and focused contemplation of surfboard design. The present is represented by absolute state of the art shaping, top quality glassing, as well as our interaction with many of the world's top surfers. The future manifests in the Bonzer as well. With it's creation in 1970, and it's acceptance by Bing Surfboards in 1973, the Bonzer initiated a paradigm shift that continues to this day. And through the incarnation of the BONZER 5, we are keeping the pressure on. Simply put, the Bonzer is the most futuristic surfboard design on the planet.

Our vintage Bonzers are not retro in performance, and are definitely not made to hang on the wall. We have taken what was good about the old templates and profiles, and discreetly unified them with modern refinements. This produces a variety of shapes that brings the past and present together into a totally ripable combination. We have a variety of longboards ranging from a basic cruiser, to the Elevated Wing 5-Fin Bonzer (aka EB5). This Campbell Brothers/Max McDonald collaboration has produced, hands down, the best hot dog longboard on the market. Our contemporary Bonzer shortboards have capabilities that, given the chance, will take surfing into a entirely new dimension of performance. WELCOME TO THE FIFTH DIMENSION.

Center Fin Placement
Contemporary

This is our contemporary high performance Bonzer 5 fin. The name comes from the Malloy Brother's film "Shelter". We made some green boards that were ridden by Taylor Knox and Donovan Frankenrider in the film. The Shelter board works well with swallow, squash or round tails. When getting your first Shelter board, or any contemporary Bonzer, it is best to order your favorite dimensions. This will allow you to more easily understand and feel what the Bonzer fins and bottom designs are doing.

Recommended size:
Order just as you would a contemporary short board.

Eggs
eggs

The Bonzer egg has evolved from the eggs of the early 70's. They combine the best attributes of past, present and future. We make a wide range of them using mostly the 5 fin set up. They will work in many types of waves.  Bonzer eggs utilize round, diamond and squash tails.

Recommended size:
5'10" x 19 3/4" x 2 3/8" to 8'0" x 22 1/2" x 3"

Octafish
octafish

The Octafish is "Not a Fish". It looks a little like a fish but has a much wider range of performance. We have incorporated Max McDonald's 'elevated wing' in this model. The wing enables the Octafish to get up and down the face of the wave more quickly and easily than a traditional fish. Powered by the Bonzer 5 fin system, this board works equally well frontside or backside and has a great all-around small to medium wave performance.

Recommended size:
5'6" x 20 3/4" x 2 1/2" to 6'5" x 22" x 3"

Russ Short
russ short

This was our most popular Bonzer shape during th mid to late 70's. Russ Short, Duncan, Cliff Collinge and I all rode slight variations of this template during the time. This model was pushed to the limit in all types of waves and proved to be a very versatile high performance surfboard. The Russ Short model is used mostly with the 3 fin set up, but can incorporate the 5 fin system as well. The Russ Short model works well as a diamond, round or swallow tail.

Recommended sizes:
6'2" x 14 1/2" x 19 3/4" 14" to 7'2" x 21 1/2"
Thickness is determined by weight of the rider.

Bumble Bee

The Bumblebee is a replica of one of the shapes that Duncan and I rode between 1973 and 1978. It is designed to be ridden shorter than the average board. It has a wide arc tail, about 9 1/4" to 10 1/4" from corner to corner. Most people ride them the same size you would ride a "fish". The Bumblebee rides equally well frontside and backside. It is very fast and works in a wide variety of waves.

Recommended size range:
5'6" x 20 3/4" x 2 5/8" to 6'5" x 22" x 3"

Pods
Pods

This board looks like a seed pod. It has a flat rocker and a wide nose and tail. It differs from the eggs in that the tail is wider than the nose. The Pod uses the 5 fin system which makes it a unique combination of Bonzer past and present. The flat rocker of the Pod makes it get up and go in small weak waves. It also works well in point type surf, but the flatter rocker can reduce its ability to change directions quickly in hollow waves.

Recommended size range:
5'10" x 20 5/8" x 2 1/2" to 6'8" x 21 1/2" x 3"

Longboards

Our longboards are generally a more high performance type of longboard. They are almost exclusively used with the 5 fin set up. We also incorporate Max McDonald's 'elevated wing' to produce our EB5 Longboard. The elevated wing makes the board turn like a board that is 3" to 6" shorter. The EB5 is a very sophisticated high performance design.
